Keyword density is a gauge by which search engines judge whether your page is targeted or not in the context of the overall subject matter.


The suggested ratio is 3–11% keyword density.


Let's say your keyword is "Chicken Pie". And "Chicken Pie" as a key phrase is used 10 times in your web page. If your web page has 200 other words that is not "Chicken Pie", your keyword density would be: 10/200 = 5%.


There are websites that will calculate your keyword density for you for free. You can try to use the free tool at goRank.


When you want your page to be even more targeted, you gotta either narrow down the choice of your words or use words to define an even smaller and specific subject matter. If "Chicken Pie" is still too generic, try to give information on "Texan Chicken Pie" (if it's ever so unique from the rest of the states).

1. Multiply your marketing and advertising efforts on the Internet. You can accomplish this by starting an affiliate program or using viral marketing.

2. Increase your ratio of visitors that purchase your product(s). You could change your headline, offer a stronger guarantee, add testimonials, etc.

3. Find out who are your strongest leads for buying your product by offering a free e-zine. The visitors that are very interested will subscribe to it.

4. Team up with your competition by starting an association for your specific industry. It could lead to a profitable partnership with them.
