Every day is a new learning experience. It’s been 3 weeks since I last sent a mail as I was deeply involved (and engrossed) in a corporate web project. Demands are higher than usual sometimes, and when push comes to shove, you would agree that we will get out of our comfort zone and do things we’ve never done before.

No one is pushy really :) My partners are supportive and I’m grateful for that. But this project did force me to rethink about designing blog themes. You see, I’m a marketer and only techie to a level where I feel I can do thing on my own, but to design a theme from scratch is out of the question for me…until I stumble upon this page that tells you how to convert your existing web design into a blog theme in 5 minutes!

Previously, if I want a uniform look to a website, I would have conformed the web template to the theme. Thankfully, it’s now the other way round. Follow the simple instructions on the page and you should not go wrong. After that, the only challenge left is coding the style.css file. The comment function of “Roll Your Own Theme” does not seem to work, so I’m waiting for my programmer to figure it out. The comment coding is done in a content.php file. 9) Priorities: People who consistently succeed manage their challenges by priorities. Commit to managing your time in such a way that does not allow you to spend time grinding along on priority numbers two or three if priority number one needs your attention and action.

10) Self-management: People who consistently succeed consciously take very good care of themselves. They are the most important resource they have in achieving their goals. They actively manage their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. It is very important to take good care of yourself.

11) A controlled environment: It is vital that all the things and spaces around you are kept up, clean and organized! It is both mentally and spiritually soothing to be in an environment that is under control but most importantly order and disorder have a very strong psychological, mostly subconscious effect on us. Everyone has a certain amount of mental capacity. That is how much of your mind can handle at one time. Why is this important to understand? Because every piece of your environment that is not kept up, dirty, disorganized, not the way you want it is basically not under control. Every bit of it, no matter how small or how big, takes up some of your attention (part of your mental capacity) either consciously or subconsciously or both. That means that you have less of your mental capacity to focused your attention on anything like making conclusions and decisions, be creative, have the energy you need to face the day and your goals. Some people are so out of control that they can barely have the energy to get out of bed in the morning not to mention actually taking on their day and goals with PASSION!

Many people have an environment that is to some degree out of control and getting in under control can be a daunting task. For some it may even seem practically imposable. Please do not worry, it is doable even for the moderately disorganized pack rat. There is some very good news here. You see, getting control has an accumulative effect on your life. That is that the more control you accomplish the better things go in your life. Here is a big secret about getting control; Getting control over the little, simple, easy-to-do things makes it easier to get control over the bigger stuff. So start with the small, quick, easy-to-do stuff and the momentum will keep up its pace. You can even get help from a friend or family member but only as long as they will just help and be supportive and NOT CRITICIZE OR PUT YOU DOWN! This can be difficult enough without having more negativity put in your head. It may help to show them this article so they understand what you are working on accomplishing and why.
