Be Descriptive: When you are describing your product make sure you include as much detail as possible. This will narrow down what exactly the buyer needs. Becoming an online coach just got easier…

One of the biggest frustrations in Internet Marketing is that you have to sell thousands of $10-$20 ebooks each year in order to make a full-time living online. The logistics can be pretty daunting.

When I first came into Internet Marketing 4 years ago, I hosted my first site with SiteSell. What's the right frame of mind for twittering?

Some folks hate it; some are addicted to it. Some wonder how much sense it makes to even use it. Hopefully, this article can help to put the website in proper perspective for Internet marketers.

For its 140-character limit per post, twittering is also called micro-blogging. Apart from this limit and the inability to add pictures, it is very much an open platform. The challenge is what content to add to create the biggest possible impact within the limits. Since you can’t say everything like in a typical blog post, it doesn’t mean you chop up a blog post into several Twitter entries. That’s…irrelevant.

I think first of all, you got to have a big picture of what insights you want to drive into the minds of your readers or followers. Writing entries like “I just woke up and brush my teeth” or “I’m getting ready my new PDF report by next Friday” doesn’t mean anything until they figure in a larger picture. For this picture to materialize, the twitterer must have 2 consistencies:

1) The frequency of twittering.

2) The focus of the messages.

But let’s start with defining the big picture. If the picture is “The lifestyle of a millionaire Internet marketer”, then the entry “I woke up and brush my teeth at 7.30 am” will be a very intriguing post to start with because everyone else would love to copy what a millionaire would do, right? Your frequent entries will give an overall insight into a general pattern or rhythm of all your actions so people can deduce for themselves what they should do.

Likewise, if you are in the midst of preparing a product launch, twittering is one very effective way to build up anticipation. Your series of entries provides a running commentary for an event and this gets your followers excited on their toes in real time.

Thus, I guess this is what Twitter is all about: to extrapolate and project eventful moments out of what could have been an ordinary life. The act of twittering is also not capable of falsehood because you have to get to the point within 140 characters plus the fact that you’ve to maintain consistencies. When you adopt a strong twittering discipline, you can establish a rock-solid presence that demands the attention of the faithful, and will not fade into the Twitosphere.

Political issues always come thick, fast and hot, so for your sampling I link you to JohnMcCain2008 which I happened to bump into. Search around for other Internet marketers’ Twitter pages and see what you can learn from them.

At the end of the day, I still know of at least one brand-name marketer who only posts affiliate links. :) If this is to your liking, I suggest you set up 2 accounts to separate your product recommendations from your real meaty/informative stuff.

Twitter is not the only micro-blogging platform around, though it has the lion’s share of the market. Also check out Jaiku, Pownce and Tumblr.

Things get really interesting from here. Programmers and webmasters are releasing plugins and strategies to cater for every possible crossposting needs: WordPress to Pownce, Pownce to WordPress, WordPress to Twitter, Twitter to Tumblr etc. Almost all crossposting instances go one-way so you have to search diligently for the right plugin that suits your preference. Here’s a great starting point: Post to Pownce, Twitter, Jaiku and Tumblr at The Same Time. Also read “How to crosspost from Twitter to Jaiku”.

Jaiku and Pownce currently pose a bit of a challenge. You can only access Jaiku with an invite code so I’m bidding my time right now. I found 2 plugins—WP2Pownce and Pownce Post—that crosspost from your WordPress blog to Pownce but I can’t get them to work. One possible ‘error’ lies with the PHP version your web host runs on. If you have better luck with Jaiku and Pownce, please leave a comment and I’ll be glad to learn from you.

The power of viral reports…

No Sales System

Years ago when I first heard this saying, “The best form of selling is no selling at all,” I was immediately won over, and who wouldn’t be? Winning over prospects is far better than convincing them.

Mmm, maybe you don’t find it a big difference between winning over and convincing someone, but a big difference it does make when it comes to setting up an online system that brings you residual income while you focus on doing other things. It’s the beauty of the Internet to be able to make sales day after day using the same message that successfully clicks with new prospects.

And so based on the above saying, Ewen Chia has published a complete blueprint for setting up such a business system, one that breaks you out of the sales mode and start making money without having to convince or cajole anyone to buy anything at all…

How is it possible? Think deeply about this: when most other marketers sell products, they subconsciously count on driving a huge amount of traffic to their websites and hope that a decent percentage of that traffic purchases. They are thus limited by the amount of traffic they can drive to their sites.

You can’t afford to bet on probabilities like that, and most probably you DON’T want traffic…What you really WANT is traffic turn CUSTOMERS! That’s what you want: conversions.

New era at eBay?

I just got back from going up north to Malaysia to catch up with some personal friends, colleagues at MasteryAsia (working hard to get their training programs released on the Net. You’ll be the first to know), and basically rejuvenate myself by doing a bit of quick sightseeing. That’s why you haven’t heard from me in the past 2 weeks. Speaking of sightseeing, I’ll be going to Shantou (Swatow), Guangdong, China in the last week of May. I’ve never been to China so I’m pretty excited to immerse myself in a new environment and perhaps get a feel for what market and commercialism is there…

Well, coming back to my laptop sure forces me to clear all that news and e-mails and marketers all around are raising the alarm that eBay is making it much more difficult to sell digital products on its platform. If you’re an active eBay user, you wouldn’t have not learned of this piece of news.

Personally, I think this bodes well for the future of eBay marketing. I almost wanted to go into eBay using the infamous “1-cent tactic” to do lead generation, but somehow never got around doing it. Now looking back in the context of eBay rewriting the rules, it seems like that 1 cent can become very expensive as an opportunity cost imposed on all that time and effort spent.

Socrates Socratous and John Thornhill have been updating regularly through their blog posts or e-mails how they are reworking their business around eBay and honestly, it’s heartbreaking to read John’s latest subject title that goes, “I’ve closed my eBay store.” No matter how successful you can be, you’re still at the mercy of someone/thing else. Sounds familiar? Like AdW___/AdS___. :)
