I just about remember the word “coke” is a slang for drugs, but far from it, here are some questions from Ronald McDonald even Internet marketers should ponder over, because they concern with follow-up sales:

1. “Do you want your coke regular or upsized?”

2. “Do you want an apple pie to go with your meal? Only 5 cents more.”

3. “Do you want a bucket of fried chicken to go with your regular meal?”

4. “Please don’t go away. Why not enjoy a budget takeaway that costs half the price of a regular meal and still keep your stomach full?”

No, McDonald’s never asked the last 2 questions, I’m sure, but you know there are “standard issue” questions customers have to face over the counter when ordering meals.

So which question is an upsell, downsell, cross-sell and a bump?

Answer:

1. Upsell

2. Bump

3. Cross-sell

4. Downsell

Review the questions again. Isn’t that amazing? If only you know how to utilize this questioning process and especially with using popups to create a whole experience/sequence such that whenever visitors visit your sales page, they would have exited, bought something and wouldn’t even know what’s gone into them to at least buy something.

I try not to mean that visitors don’t know what they are buying :) But these cases do happen and the smartest marketers have been fantastic at following up to get more sales.
