Came across a neat blog website where you can read about how people go through and view a website, what catches their attention, where they look, and for how long. Can be helpful with making strategic decisions to determine your website design and adSense sites. The blog is called EyeTools Research.
Imagine this: You run a website with hundred of pages, and on each page you have AdSense code. What if you want to change the color of your AdSense ads, do you edit all of those pages manually? What if you have not only hundreds, but thousands of pages?
If you’re still updating them manually, you should stop now. It’s a waste of time! Here’s what I do. I automate the insertion of AdSense code into my web pages using SSI (server side included). In order to use SSI, you’ll need to ask your web hosting company whether their server supports SSI or not. Nowadays, most web hosting companies allow you to use SSI. If their server doesn’t support SSI, it’s time for a change. If you want to switch to another web hosting company like 3rdSphere which we are using now.
Here’s how to do it. You just put the AdSense code in a text file, save it as ‘adsense.txt’, and upload it to the root directory of your web server. Next, call the file on all your pages using a simple SSI call like this:
#include virtual=”/adsense.txt”
Whenever you want to change to color of your ads, or the layout, simply edit the text file, upload it to your website, and voila, the change can be seen on all pages. This trick is really a time saver especially for those who use automatic page generators to generate pages on their website.
When we realized the *main* reason for this bright idea of an offer, we did laugh it out loud. Mr. Vitale wants to get rid of ‘old’ pictures of himself on the covers, so “HSS must go”. Don’t tell us he’s so good at hypnotism he hypnotized himself to *slim* down.
In case you don’t know who Joe Vitale is, this is the man to whom people are paying $5,000 to attend his copywriting workshop. By ‘hypnotism’, he means to use techniques of language, especially in story-telling which he’s very good at, to draw the attention of prospects in a sublime manner. Don’t worry, you will stay sane and awake throughout.
Point is, Joe has helped countless people create 5, 6, even 7-figure incomes using the exact techniques he uses in his courses since the 80s…and now it’s your turn!
This offer consists of a limited edition of Hypnotic Selling Secrets, and is limited in time, quantity and pricing. We don’t think you will see the same page again even next month. Moreover, Joe is giving away an incredible number of third-party e-books and recorded transcripts AND 5 Super Bonuses which should be worth 10 times more than the main dish.
We strongly recommend you pick up “Hypnotic Selling Secrets” for the benefit of your copywriting efforts no matter which industry you belong to, not only simply because it works, and also we want to rebate 50% of our commissions to you as long as you send us your receipt of purchase through our link here. Use that ‘extra’ money to invest in other things. Hurry before all units run out!
With all the buzz about Google AdSense it may be wise to at least chëck it out to see what profïts you could be missing out on. Let’s face it…if there’s a way to monetize your site to maximize your profïts, then don’t you owe it to yourself to at least give it the once over?
A great way to do this is to use a frëe tool called the AdSense Sandbox. This tool checks your website and tells you what ads would most likely be placed on your page should you decide to use Google AdSense.
You can also estimate your earnïngs based on your existing traffïc and the cost-per-clïck that advërtisers are willing to bid for these keywords. Of course you won’t know what percentage of the pie you’ll get, but at least you’ll have an idea. The AdSense Sandbox is web-based and totally frëe to use, plus you don’t have to subscribe to any mailings.
Strategically speaking, a URL must be easily remembered both for its hook and length.
People remember sony.com, but nobody remembers nsyo.com if the 4 letters stand for a company’s initials.
However, people seem to remember ilovetheiraqiforeignminister.com (taken off oredi).
If you need a long one, restrict to just 3 most powerful keywords that describe your industry and string them together, dot com.
Domain Name Optimization is most effective for high-demand, low-competition keywords. Don’t put too much faith in DNO in the context of Internet Marketing, self-development, business or other money-making areas where so many people are jumping on right now.
The ideal combination of keywords is one which people remember as your brand name.
Should you use hyphen in a domain name?
The hyphen breaks up a longer domain name to reveal the major keywords that describe your website content or theme. This makes it easier for the visitor to understand and most importantly allows the search engine to detect your keyword for indexing right off the bat.
However, as search engine spiders get smarter and more subtle in what they want to qualify, the hyphen effect is less likely to influence any impact of the URLs on SE visibility. For URL branding purposes, it is also more viable to leave out dashes in between your URL’s name.
Do a test on yourself and on friends to measure up the degree of your URL’s ‘likeability’.
This is a hyperlink: http://freshresources.com
This is a text link: Fresh Resources
Anchor text refers to the keywords inside a hyperlink: http://www.freshresources.com/free-ebooks.html
In this case, the keywords are fresh, resources, free and ebooks.
Anytime someone do a search with any of the above keywords, freshresources.com stands a chance to show up on the results.
Text links and anchor text are the two most important criteria for how Google and other top Search Engines rank websites. Anchor text has particular influence on SE visibility of your URL.
I had an interesting experience searching for a site by Paul B. Farrell, a personal finance columnist.
Not noticing that his URL contains his middle name initial, I went straight to http://paulfarrell.com. Huh, Sutton Place: Great American Bar & Grille? That’s a restaurant in New York. I’m sure many surfers entered the restaurant by mistake. I checked the URL again and noticed the ‘b’, so went to http://paulbfarrell.com. Interestingly, B. Farrell’s site at least has an Alexa ranking of 659,168 while Sutton Place doesn’t have a number.
What does that say about the ‘online eminence’ of an obscure URL? No telling effect really.
Another poser: .com or .info?
Google-search for “video blogging”. What’s the No. 1 URL on the first page? videoblogging.info! If you scroll down and take a closer look, 7 out of the 1st 10 URLs on the list does not end in .com. Intriguing isn’t it?
We do feel that there’s only so much you can do with DNO. If you happen to have a lousy domain name in your hands, don’t fret; you just might be able to compensate with SEO. Anyway, Google (and with more major SEs to follow suit) no longer ranks sites based on technicalities, but quality, history and integrity. The better question to ask yourself in the long run is: “2 years from today, will the search engines begin to show respect for my wonderful site?”
Well, 2 years from today, will you still be doing the same business? Will it expand and prosper? Mind you, 80% of all businesses around the world close down in 2 years.
On a sidenote, according to a survey by Jupiter Research and iProspect, 41% out of 2,369 people change search engines or search terms if they do not find what they are looking for on the first page. At most, they will go through 3 pages before giving up.
Knowing very well that more than 90% of the time, you are not likely to appear on first page overnight, this surely sounds hopeless, so how much more still can we do about SEO? Perhaps not much, but we shouldn’t worry.
Again, we are reminded of Einstein’s quote: “You can’t solve a level of problem at the same level of thinking.”
If you keep checking how much % keyword density is in your article page, you are not operating in Einstein mode.
If you keep checking how many new and returning visitors you have every week, you are not operating in Einstein mode.
If you keep checking how much you have earned in Adsense every single day, you are not operating in Einstein mode.
If you keep checking whether your item is sold in eBay or not, you are not operating in Einstein mode.
If you keep checking your bank balance every now and then, you are not operating in Einstein mode!
While testing and tracking results is important, the routine must be balanced with a vision, plan and action. Victor Hugo said, “An invasion of armies can be resisted, but not an idea whose time has come.”

In 1938 Mr Honda was a broke student who had only one dream. To design a piston ring that he would sell to Toyota. He would go to school and then work at his idea at night, covered up to his elbows in grease. After years of spending time, effort and money when he thought it was perfect, he took it to Toyota and they rejected it. He was ridiculed by friends, teachers and family for designing such a stupid gadget that nobody would want.
Instead of giving up, he spent another 2 years making the design even better and then Toyota finally bought it.
Happy ending right? Wrong.
Mr Honda needed to build a factory to build the piston rings and needed concrete, but Japan was getting ready for WW2 and so none was available. You’d think he would quit, but not Mr Honda, he actually went and found a new way to manufacture concrete! He built his factory and was finally able to produce his piston rings.
If you thinks the story ends there you’d be dead wrong. Look what happens next…
During the war, the United States bombed his factory. Instead of feeling defeated, Mr Honda told his employees to “Quickly run outside and gather the fuel cans that the American planes are dropping, we need these raw materials for our manufacturing process!” These were materials they could not get anywhere in Japan (Mr Honda found an opportunity even after being bombed!). Mr Honda took anything life gave him and found a positive use for it. After his factory had been bombed, to make matters worse, an earthquake hit Mr Honda’s factory and leveled it totally. What a stroke of bad luck.
Now Mr Honda had no money, no permenant place to live and couldn’t even afford the gas to go to the grocers to buy food for his family.
Mr Honda made a very powerful decision. He asked himself, “How else can I feed my family?” Mr Honda wanted a better lifestyle for hmself and his family, he was not going to just settle like so many others do. Having no money and very few resources, he asked himself another question, “How can i use the things i already have to get to where i want to be?”Mr Honda, thinking like this and looking for whatever he had, one day found a motor, a small motor that would be used to drive a lawn mower. This is when he got the idea of hooking it up to his bicycle. In that moment, the world’s first motorized Honda bike was created. He rode it everywhere and his friends and neighbours saw him and asked him to make them one. Pretty soon Mr Honda had created so many bikes, he had run out of motors, so he decided to build a factory. But…Yes there’s a big BUT, Japan was torn apart economically by winds of change and he had no money.
Not wanting to give up and saying, “There’s no way,” Mr Honda came up with a great idea. He decided to write letters to all the bicycle owners in Japan, telling them that he had thought of a solution for getting Japan moving again and help people get to where they need to go cheaply. Then he asked them for an investment. Of the 18,000 shop owners who he wrote to, 3000 gave him money. He then went on to build the factory and manufacture his first shipment. Now you’d think he’s a success right? Nope.
The bike was too bulky and very few people bought. Again, instead fo giving up, Mr Honda stripped the bike down to bear essentials, making it lighter and smaller and he named it the “CUB” and now finally this creation became an “overnight success” winning the Emperor’s Award. Everyone looked at him and was thinking how “lucky” he was to have come up with such a great idea. Little did they know that luck had nothing to do with it unless you count bad luck, then luck had lots to do with it, but Mr Hondas perceverance is what finally paid off. Today Mr Honda’s company, The Honda Corporation is one of the most successful in the world and outsells every car in America except Toyota.
The Lesson: Mr Honda came up against problem after problem, but he never let his problems or even uncontrolable circumstances get in his way. He decided that there is always a way to succeed if you’re commited enough.
I hope you enjoyed reading this, but more importantly, I hope you gained something from it. Feel free to post your thoughts.
