Q&A:
Review Our Site
by
Nelson Tan
Q:
I would like some help if possible to review our site http://www.speechelp.com.
The clinic (which is our specialty) is going great. However, sales
from the site is not. Can anyone advise me on what to do (hopefully
something that does not have to incur much cost or resources on
our part)?
Thanks,
Pamela
A:
Hello Pamela, as far as possible, "don't put content that
doesn't pay you." That's the first advice to me by someone
else.
Here
are some things you can do:
1)
Your newsletter sign-up section should not be kept hidden. Bring
it out to the home page. You can refer to my site at http://www.internetmasterycenter.com.
See top left corner. Entice potential subscribers with a free
gift. That means you don't leave the freebies out in the open.
They must get them for a 'price'.
2)
Make the buying process as easy and completely online as possible,
even for hard products. Collect orders online and deliver products
via dropship or courier. Advertise select products on the front
page as well.
3)
For toys and other easy-to-use items, they may look so easy that
there probably wasn't much benefit in buying them, but that's
my initial impression. To enhance the benefits, create a downloadable
PDF file describing benefits and effects from using them. If they
don't persist to sell well, take them down and focus aggressively
on a select range of high-value products.
4)
Convert all literature products into soft copy whenever possible
so that people can buy then download straightaway. Because your
business is not internationalized, it's actually making it harder
for you to collect money since most online processors are US-based.
PayPal
should be enough.
5)
Have a kind of dynamic update section on your home page showing
the next schedule of your workshop or other developments.
6) Show photos of your workshop and people lah...what coconut
tree, haha.
7)
"Price Crash"...I wrote my latest ebook
with this statement, "If your stuff is not selling well,
never give a permanent discount for no good reason; a permanent
discount never had a good reason."
8)
Take down newsletter archive. If you give easy access, no one
would subscribe anyway.
9)
Put up contextual ads from Google
AdSense. These ads pay you whenever your visitors click on
them. They change according to the main subject matter on each
page. Put the code up on every page. It's FREE to put up the codes,
but you must make adjustment to your layout to cater for space.
10)
Create a forum. Can be complicated so ask your personal webmaster
(if you have one) to look for free forum scripts on the Net.
11)
Start a blog.
12)
If you know of other people working in the same industry and they
have their own books, offer to JV with them so that you can help
sell their books on your site (see pt. 4) and get a cut from them.
Turn competitors into collaborators. Exchange site links with
them too. Maybe even run workshops with them.
13)
Do a search for "submit articles". Submit all your short
articles to every directory for FREE. Just remember to leave your
name and URL. It's time-consuming but worth the effort...if only
you are prepared to internationalize.
14)
Get testimonials and display them.
15)
Implement a feedback page like this.
And
for long-term considerations:
16)
Send press releases.
17)
Get interviewed and put up a recording online.
18)
Record your previews, convert them into video files and put them
up online for download.
19)
Interview your own clients and testify how far they have come
in their own results.
20)
Run web seminars and charge for them.
