Popups Are History! How I Tripled My Signups!
by
Neil Shearing
You
know, I'm a lazy guy!
I
just slapped popups on my pages around about 1999 and just left
them. Yesterday I decided to find out if all the popup blockers
had decreased my signups, or if that was a load of hooey. The
results may surprise you. :-)
Here's
the problem from a web marketer's point of view...
More
and more people are using popup blockers whether they know it
or not. WindowsXP
Service Pack 2 comes with a popup blocker for Internet Explorer.
As they say, "When you install SP2, Pop-up Blocker is turned
on in Internet Explorer and set to the medium setting, which means
it will block most automatic popups."
A
lot of antivirus, anti-spyware and firewall software comes bundled
with popup blockers...
"McAfee
Internet Security helps safeguard personal data, prevent viruses,
stop unauthorized computer access, filter spam from your Inbox
and block popup ads—all in one powerful, fully integrated
package."
"Norton
AntiSpam 2005 helps users speed up Internet connections and
reduce Web distractions by blocking annoying popup, popunder and
banner ads."
On
top of that, most free toolbars such as...
*
Google—"Eliminate
annoying pop-up ads"
*
Yahoo—"Enjoy
hassle-free surfing with Pop-up Blocker and Anti-Spy"
*
Alexa—"Stop
Pop-ups, Surf Related Links, and More!"
...all
come with popup blockers. There are hundreds of other toolbars
that also come with popup blockers. So, what can you do? Well,
here's what I did. I replaced my old popup...

...with
an unblockable drop-in box.

You
can't really tell the difference between the two popups as they
have the same content, but the old one generates a new web page
(which the popup blockers can block) whereas the new one doesn't...It
creates a new layer to the page, and the layer can't be blocked!
You
can create a free drop-in box here: Creative
Connectivity.
You
may also want to check out this latest technology in popups...I
haven't tested it, but they do look incredible: Instant
Attention.
The
results I got from my new drop-in boxes were incredible. Signups
tripled from the day before the change to the day after!
And
more signups means more chances to turn a list member into a customer!
