Ways To Get Exactly What You Want From Life
by
Iris J. Chapman
Everyone
wants to be happy. Everyone wants to look back on a long life
and be able to honestly say, "I wouldn't do anything differently."
The question is how do you get there from where you are now?
Good
question!
Hypothetically:
Let's say that you got on a plane. When the captain came on the
intercom he said, "Welcome to Fly Wrong Airlines. I am your
captain. I have no clue where we are going today. But, if you'd
fasten your seat belts, we'll take off shortly. I'll just fly
around till we run out of gas and land there. Who knows where
that'll be?"
Sounds
funny right?
*
Know exactly what you want out of life.
* Plot a course of action.
* Get help when needed.
* Implement Your Plans Immediately.
* Never give up.
1)
Know exactly what you want out of life.
"The
real purpose of our existence is not to make a living, but to
make a life—a worthy, well rounded, useful life." Author
Unknown
As
illustrated by the airplane story you must know where you are
going in order to not just end up anywhere. There may be detours
you have to take or layovers but make it your business to continue
on to your planned destination.
2)
Plot a course of action.
"The
difference between a prejudice and a conviction is that you can
explain a conviction without getting mad." Author Unknown
Don't
prejudge yourself. You never know what you can accomplish until
you try and try again and try one more time and then try again
after that. I think you get my meaning. Say, "I am convinced
that if I put my mind to this task I can do it." And you
will find that you can!
3)
Get help when needed.
"At
work, you think of the children you have left at home. At home,
you think of the work you've left unfinished." Golda
Meir
Read
self-help books that will give you ideas on how to get things
accomplished (visit Winner
Strategies). Ask family and friends for help. Get an opinion
from someone you admire on a problem that you have. Join a club
or forum. The idea is to act today so that the problem you have
may no longer exist tomorrow.
4)
Implement Your Plans Immediately.
"His
(Sir Isaac Newton's) peculiar gift was the power of holding continuously
in his mind a purely mental problem until he had seen it through."
John Maynard Keynes
Picture
in your mind the perfect life for you. Hold it there and never
let it go. Then put one foot in front of the other continuously.
You will be able to figure out how to get around any obstacle
that may come your way. That is what ingenuity is all about.
5)
Never give up.
"Do
all the good you can
By all the means you can
In all the ways you can
In all the places you can
At all the times you can
To all the people you can
As long as ever you can."
John Wesley, 1703-1791, English theologian, evangelist, and
founder of Methodism
Remember
the little train that could? If it had stopped on its way up the
mountain gravity would have eventually pulled it back down to
the bottom of the hill where it started its journey. If it continued
up and over the top—gravity
would have assisted it toward its destination at the bottom of
the other side. You can't get around the fact that gravity is
going to pull you one way or the other. It's the law of nature.
Which
do you choose?
Do
yourself and the world some good. Reach your destination!
