The
Truth About Search Engines
by
Glenn Canady
The
Myths
Myth
#1: You can easily get on the search engines top 10 list
with doorway pages, cloaking, spamming, or other tricks!
The
tricks that used to work on the search engines such as doorway
pages, invisible text, cloaking, etc. are getting much more difficult.
I learned at the last Search Engine Seminar that the major search
engines now have entire teams dedicated to finding sites that
use these techniques. Once they find you, your site will either
get heavily penalized or banned altogether! If you read my book,
you will learn everything you need to do for great search engine
rankings and none of it will every get you penalized!
Myth
#2: Just make a website on the Internet and sales start
rolling in!
Of
course we all wish that the money would just roll in once you
created your website, but I'm sure you know by now that this just
isn't how it works. When people call the Internet the Information
Super Highway, it's very misleading. It makes you think that your
site is some kind of billboard and that people will just see you
as they whiz on by on this one big highway. Wrong! Instead, think
of the Internet as represented by every street in the United States.
When you first create your website, you are placed in Montana,
about 300 miles from the nearest road! In other words, you are
in B.F.E. and nobody even knows you exist. Once you learn all
the secrets of using Zeus,
this changes and your site gets on Main Street!
Myth
#3: Once you submit to the search engines, then thousands
of visitors will swarm to your website.
Myth
#4: You can pay someone $99 a month to market your site.
This
comes in all kinds of flavors and price ranges. Sometimes they
will just submit your existing pages to the search engines once
a month. Of course, they don't tell you that search engines penalize
sites that over-submit their pages. Submitting the same pages
over and over to the search engines is just plain stupid and a
waste of money. It's not like they give you bonus points for how
many times you submit them! In fact, many search engines will
actually rank your page more highly if their spiders find your
pages on their own. To do an effective search engine promotion
requires either a lot of time on your part or a good deal of money
because somebody has to be paid to do it. There just aren't any
cheap shortcuts that will do you any good in the long run!
The
Truth about Search Engines
Search
Engine marketing is not everything it professes to be. It certainly
is not the traffic producer that you have been told it is. Search
engines are important, but they should only be a part of your
marketing efforts, not your entire focus. Once you get my course,
you'll be able to forget them and concentrate on building a content
rich website with LOTS of link partners that ALL the search engines
will find out about and love! You won't be using spamming, doorway
pages, and all the other "flavors of the week" to influence
the search engines. Instead, you'll give them exactly what they
want—GREAT CONTENT with a heavy dose of link partners!
You'll
get lots of Search Engine Tips in my course, "Gorilla
Website Marketing", here is just one: Always
Remember that Content is King!
Content
is what Search Engine robots look for when they decide how high
to rank a website for certain keywords. Let's define what we mean
by content. To a search engine, content includes words, sentences,
and paragraphs that are FULL of the keywords that you want to
be found for. Please understand that all graphics are totally
ignored by the search engines. A website with nothing but graphics
will NEVER get good rankings on the search engines. Your home
page has to sell the rest of the site! It should have at the very
least a few well written paragraphs that tell the world what you
do or what you offer. These paragraphs should include as many
of the keywords from your master list as you can logically weave
into the page. Don't make your site awkward to read though. If
you can't use the word on the page, just work it in on another
page. Do your best to use ALL of your important keywords on your
home page.
