Proven
Techniques For Building A Solid Subscriber List
by
Cody Moya
Building and maintaining
a solid list of subscribers is the cornerstone of any effective
affiliate program. More subscribers mean more click through and
sales for your merchant partners, and of course more commissions
for you. There are many strategies for building a solid list of
subscribers who are anxious to read your messages. A few of the
most effective are listed below.
1) Make it easy for potential subscribers to sign up. I can't
tell you how many times I've clicked on a link to a free report,
free sample or other product, only to be bombarded by a huge page
of banner ads, graphics and other junk. If I have to search for
the sign-up box, I click away faster than you can say "bye
bye". You can be sure your potential subscribers feel the
same way, so make it easy for them. The only thing on your squeeze
page should be the offer itself and a box for the visitor's e-mail
address. Anything else is merely a distraction.
2) Design a separate website for your e-zine. Creating a separate
page for your e-zine allows visitors to easily view a sample when
deciding whether to become subscribers. The e-zine page should
contain comments from subscribers, some sample content, etc. Having
a separate e-zine page also allows you to submit the page to search
engines based on targeted keywords and keyword phrases.
3) Provide a free sample. Providing some sort of bonus, like
a free report, free newsletter or free sample article, is a proven
way to turn visitors into subscribers. After all, everyone likes
free stuff. Of course, you need to make sure you provide your
promised freebie quickly, and that the content is useful and interesting.
4) Include a custom written signature. Every piece of mail and
every e-zine article you send should include a signature file
containing your website address and a few lines about your business.
Building a relationship with your subscriber list takes time,
and a signature file is a great way to build that relationship.
5) Provide articles for your subscribers. Providing fresh, interesting
content is a sure way to keep subscribers happy and looking for
more. If you are not a writer, do not despair. There are some
great sites where affiliate marketers can buy private label articles.
One of our favorite sites Your
Own Articles. This site allows you to purchase exclusive rights
to the articles, meaning that you have the right to put your name
on them as the author. This allows you to add an author resource
box, which will link back to your squeeze page and allow you to
continue building your subscriber base.
6) Check out the e-zine directories. There are many free and
paid directories out there were authors can list their e-zines
and build their list of subscribers. It may be worthwhile to check
out these e-zine directories.
7) Become a barterer. Trading and exchanging ads and newsletter
content is a great way to build your base. Here's how it works:
you submit an article at no-cost to a newsletter publisher who
needs content. In exchange, you are permitted to include a small
ad in the content of the article. The ad will point readers back
to your squeeze page and allow you to build your base of subscribers.
