The
First Rule Of Selling
Asking
for the money seems like such a simple thing, but I see so many
people doing it wrong that I wanted to address it first. Knowing
how to ask for the money effectively is the first rule of selling
and what's going to fill your bank account with profits. Did you
know more than 90% of all transactions end up failing because
the seller never ASKS for the sale! It seems
so simple, but how can you sell somebody something if you don't
ASK for the money! There's nothing I hate more than having to
dig 7 levels deep into a site just to find out how to order. You
should make it very easy for your prospect to order no matter
where they are on your site. Your order page should only be one
click away from anywhere. In fact, I'll usually put an order link
at the bottom of my home page just so that my prospects don't
get lost along the way!
How
To Uncover Your Target Market
Knowing
who your customers are is extremely important to the success of
your business. Once you know who your customers are then you can
go out and get lots of them very efficiently. For instance if
you sell a unique car wax that lasts for five years and find out
that 85% of your customers are men in the age range of 24–48
then this will be a major factor in how your marketing strategy
is deployed. Obviously you need to target your web site to appeal
to men in this age range and you also need to concentrate your
partnership efforts to web sites that draw this demographic. Advertising
on Playboy.com would probably work quite well, while the exact
same advertising campaign on MarthaStewart.com would bomb miserably!
One
of the golden rules of advertising is "FIND OUT WHAT YOUR
CUSTOMERS WANT AND THEN GIVE IT TO THEM". Once you know what
your customers want then you can appeal to these wants in your
website and your advertising campaigns. You can fire your advertising
campaigns with a high powered rifle instead of just shot gunning
away hoping that you'll hit a few prospects.
Headlines
Your
headline is the key to your entire success. A good headline can
ring in the sales like crazy while a bad one can sink you. It's
really one of the most important pieces of the puzzle and one
that you will do a lot of testing on. Studies have shown that
a GREAT headline can outperform another headline by as much as
1500% or more!!! That can be the difference between making $1000.00
and $15000.00 per month! You'll need to spend a lot of time writing
different headlines, testing them, and evaluating them until you
can be sure that you've got a GREAT one! Over 5 times more people
will read your headline as will read your entire site! A GREAT
headline will make your prospect read the rest of your web site.
Your first headline ALWAYS lists your primary benefit and sets
the stage for the rest of your offer!
Your
entire site must be full of EXCITEMENT for your product. Have
you ever noticed how the most successful CEO's are always full
of excitement about their products? You can just see it in their
eyes. It's essential to be excited about your product or else
why should you expect anybody else to be? If you don't make your
web site exciting, then your prospects aren't going to be excited
about buying!
How
To Use Bullets To Sell Like Crazy
Any
successful website is full of bullets. For example at Double
Your Dating, this is the first paragraph of the website.

The "Kiss Test"—How to tell if she's ready to
be kissed
* The difference between how men and women think about dating,

* And much, much more...
Notice
the power of these bullets! It really gets you curious doesn't
it? Bullets are the foundation upon which you build your website.
Notice in the above example how the headline is just the hook
to get them to read the rest of the ad. The bullets really get
them JUICED about what you're selling!
Since
you don't know what specifically will appeal to each prospect,
bullets are a way of blasting your prospects with a list of ALL
their different needs, fears, or desires. The trick is to hit
on as many of these triggers as possible. Just a few well placed
bullets can do the bulk of your selling so make sure that you
have them sprinkled throughout your site. Making bullets is really
pretty straightforward since all you do is put some emotion into
a benefit of your product. Notice how the above bullets tell the
prospect EXACTLY what they are going to get. Always remember that
your primary goal of your website is to tell people what's in
it for them!
If
you've got your prospect excited with all your EXCITING Headlines,
Bullets, and Testimonials then you OWE it to them to CLOSE them!
Not closing them just wouldn't be fair! Closing is what puts money
in your bank account so take it very seriously!
Closing
is one of the most important things you're going to learn about
