10 Ways To Satisfy Your Needs

by Annette Maree Stanton

1. Identify your needs

Being aware of what you need is the first step in satisfying the need. Journalling, write your life story or reflect and look for patterns.

2. Double-check if it is really a need for you

Often times one's need might be masking a bigger need. Allow yourself to peel back the layers. Take time to figure out if the need you have identified is true for you right now. Identify needs that feel true, not look good. Examine how you feel and behave when the need is met versus unmet.

3. Ask for support

Choose three to five people in your life who are willing to help you get your needs met. Share with them what you are trying to do and request ways they can help you satisfy your needs.

4. Set up a system

Set up a system that automatically meets your needs so when life changes course or you encounter something unexpected your needs are taken care of without a lot of work.

5. Build a reserve

Get to the point that you have more than enough or whatever you might need in your life. Have extra, have a reserve. If you have the need 'to be included' then set it up so that you are included so much so, that you no longer feel pulled by that need.

6. Reduce the number of things you tolerate in your life

The things we tolerate can often be an expression of our needs. If you are tolerating a draining relationship in your life you may have a need to be liked that is not being met. Take care of your tolerations and your needs become much more clearer.

7. Positive sources of energy

Create positive sources of energy in your life. This gives you a healthy flow of energy to be proactive and handle your needs directly.

8. Stop blaming others

Needs are natural and satisfiable if we are responsible and take action. Blaming others keeps you stuck. Accept that your needs are your own and you can deal with them effectively.

9. Build a strong inner foundation

Building a strong base from which you grow is an essential part of meeting your needs. If you have a strong stable personal foundation, you can meet your needs directly.

10. Practice extreme self-care

Be the number one priority in your life. Taking excellent care of yourself is a critical part of creating an effortless life. The better care you take of yourself, the better able you are to handle your needs, plus it feels great.
