Boost
Your Affiliate Income Through Expert Articles
by
Cody Moya
Even though the Internet is full of money-making opportunities for
affiliates, merchants and others, to the average Internet user,
content is still very much king. That means that in order to
be a successful, profitable affiliate, you will need to provide
those average Internet users with content that they find useful,
while at the same time providing those all important affiliate
links that generate those big commission checks.
The best way to do this for most affiliates is to compile a
list of subscribers who have opted in to obtain a freebie such
as a report, e-book or other item of value to them. Many successful
affiliates will have several such subscriber, or opt-in lists,
representing those with interest in different types of subjects.
Compiling those lists of subscribers, however, is certainly
not enough. After all, the end result you are looking for is
getting those subscribers to click your affiliate link and buy
products from your affiliate partners.
After you have gathered your list or lists of subscribers,
it is time to provide those subscribers with content they can
use. If you do not provide exciting, useful and compelling content,
you will quickly be hit with a rash of unsubscribe, and they
will do your merchants no good at all.
The first step, of course, is to create those articles, and
the best, most cost effective way to do that, is to buy those
articles from one of the many web sites where you can obtain
private label articles. Buying private label articles means
that you, as the affiliate, will be able to attach your name
to these articles as the author.
These articles must contain interesting content that your subscribers
will be anxious to read. For instance, if you have compiled
a list of subscribers who are interested in fishing, it is important
to provide a series of articles, each focused on a particular
aspect of fishing and fishing gear.
For instance, the first article you send may provide tips on
choosing the best lures for various types of fish, while subsequent
articles can provide information on the best fishing in Canada,
choosing the best fishing rod, catch and release fishing, etc.
Of course, each article will contain an affiliate link to your
selected merchant, in this case a seller of fishing equipment.
Depending on your affiliate relationship and goals, each article
can either contain an affiliate link to the same merchant, or
each article could contain an affliliate link to a different
merchant.
One advantage of this article series approach is that it sets,
you, the affiliate, up as an instant expert or guru. For instance,
with the fishing example mentioned above, you instantly appear
to be THE one resource for all things related to fishing. You
would be the one person any fisherman would want as a resource.
Therefore, the recommendations you make, and the merchants you
recommend, have instant credibility with those on your subscriber
list.
Gaining this type of credibility with your subscriber base
will be essential to your success as an affiliate. After you
have gained credibility and expert status with your base of
opt-in subscribers, they will anxiously await your next e-mail,
and eagerly respond to your subtle urging to visit your affiliated
merchants. It has been shown that those articles that provide
expert level content have much better conversion rates than
more general purpose articles, so it definitely pays to provide
expert information to your subscriber base.
