Contrary
to what you may have thought,
, I wasn't on vacation. Singapore is one of quite a number
of countries where military conscription is mandatory to turn
boys into men (clerks, storemen, drivers, musicians included)
so I was going back to camp as part of a 10-year training cycle.
Horror
of horrors, my original service vocation is changed to 'combat'
without much warning as with most guys and the training program
in the past 2 weeks is as intensive as you can get with mosquitoes
commando-trained to suck through your thick green No. 4s. Now
I have bites, blisters, scratches, sun tan, dirt and camoflage
cream deep under my fingernails (even after I cut them) and I
can hardly walk with aches all over my cranky body.
However,
I had a great time firing the squad
automatic weapon (SAW). What a lovely gun! Anyone who had
experience with it would surely not hesitate to label the M-16
under "child's play".
I must have said more than I should in terms of military secrets
:) On the bright side of things, I have gained a bit more body
mass and muscles, and new friends with the potential for business
engagement too. The real challenge right now is coming back to
the computer and facing a sudden realization and need
