We used to assume the more link exchanges you can create, the
merrier. This is really a bash-through type of naive thinking.
Truth is, the number of links is insignificant compared
to the quality of links. Someone recently became the
first person ever to declare "PageRank does not equate to
traffic!" Maybe this comment is directed at some who are
just obsessed and egoistic with a longer green bar without understanding
what to do with it.
So
putting a personal fixation with PR aside, what's left? Link exchange
is precisely the rule of the game in Google search engine's context,
the key to increasing your PR and SERP (search engine result page)
ranking. The next question is, "How much of a significance
do link exchanges have on increasing PR and SERP ranking that
is measurable?" It becomes a ROI-on-effort
issue. You don't want to rush through the process and expend so
much energy to get links and $$$ on PR-increasing software only
to realize in the end, it all doesn't add up to much real traffic.
For sure, link exhange effectivness is not a linear progress.
You want to know the correct strategies used to maximize results
without excess work. Setting up a link exchange directory is definitely
NOT the best solution.
